Merlin's Wulf De le Rose

Wulf was our King. He was born on December 17, 2000 and died on June 11, 2005. Wulf sired thirty-seven beautiful, large healthy pups with Cherie, and his offspring have given many humans great joy. He was the first of our dogs to officially carry the De le Rose name. Wulf was a very big boy. He weighed roughly 175 pounds. I am 6 foot 1 inch tall. When Wulf was forced to stand on his back legs and place his front paws on my shoulders, he was a good head taller than I am. Wulf was an Alpha Male. In our home "pack" of Great Danes, he was the undisputed King. To the other dogs, he kept up his image by constantly exerting his dominance. To humans, he was a big ol'baby who never could get enough loving to fill his need. Wulf was the only one of our dogs to be "wet-mouthed". As a pup, he drooled incessantly. As he aged, that tapered off. Wulf was infamous for drooling on his humans. Wulf died from bloat, despite my best efforts to prevent that from happening with my dogs. It is a problem that plagues all large-bodied animals. In Wulf's case, I wasn't aware that he was dying until it was over. Wulf was my buddy, and his death devastated me. I will miss him something fierce. I have his Son, Wulf's Odin De le Rose, and his Granddaughter, Odin's Leysa De le Rose. May Wulf's offspring always prosper. Goodbye my friend. I loved you so much. May we meet again in Valhalla! Hail to the King!
